We agree with everything Melissa and their system said. Really appreciate this conversation. Interesting timing that we came across it as we just posted about our frustrations with the mental health care system, and their lack of knowledge on dissociative disorders. We aren’t surprised that a major trauma specialist said negative /ableist things about DID clients and thought it was okay. Power really gets to you, and the hierarchy lets them get away with it.

lol my system is like… idk if we should wait a long time and hope Melissa has an opening someday or if we just want to know them in general. It’s nice to see someone caring about intersectional clients and viewing the mental health care system how we do. The practice they work at is one of few in state that have DID specialists. It’s really hard to find that..

We did reach out to that practice a while ago but hadn’t heard back, which we assumed meant they are full with no waitlist. Kinda really defeats the whole idea that DID is as “rare” as research says it is… if we can’t find providers to work with us. Thanks again to both of y’all!
